Liverpool’s assistant manager, Pepijn Lijnders, is set to take the helm as the new head coach of Red Bull Salzburg. The 41-year-old, who has been with Liverpool since 2014, will embark on this new journey in Austria with a three-year contract starting this summer.

Lijnders, currently in his second term at Anfield, had been slated to depart following Jurgen Klopp’s departure. However, he now looks forward to instilling an attacking brand of football at his new club, emphasizing the values of passion and a relentless drive for success.

Originally under Brendan Rodgers’ tutelage, Lijnders continued to play a pivotal role in Liverpool’s coaching setup after Klopp assumed leadership in October 2015. Though he briefly left to manage Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen, Lijnders returned to Anfield seven months later, resuming his previous responsibilities.

Vitor Matos, Liverpool’s development coach, will accompany Lijnders to Red Bull Salzburg, serving as his assistant manager in the Austrian top-flight.
