Reigning Africa rally champion Karan Patel embarks on this year’s Pearl of Africa Rally with high hopes of clinching victory.

Patel, alongside Taussef Khan, will navigate a Skoda Fabia as they make their third appearance in Uganda for the Africa Rally Championship round. Despite a disappointing outing last year, where adverse weather conditions led to their withdrawal after the first day of Recce, Patel remains undeterred.

Reflecting on past challenges, Patel is determined to rewrite history in the Pearl Rally.

Expressing his confidence, Patel stated, “I am here to win the event. I have now overcome my fears for wet stages. So I am ready for any conditions this weekend.”

With a clear focus on maximizing championship points, Patel anticipates a fierce battle with Uganda’s Jas Mangat.

Having set the pace in the qualifying stage, Patel demonstrated his early intent by topping the timesheets, edging out his Kenyan counterpart Hamza Anwar. However, Mangat proved formidable in the shakedown, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown.

The rally, consisting of seven stages on Saturday and three on Sunday, will cover a total competitive distance of 209.45 kilometers. Patel is slated to start fifth on the road, following Mangat and Anwar.
