Uganda Mourns: Condolences Pour In as Ofwono Opondo’s Mother Passes Away

Alice Owenjuye Opondo, mother of Uganda Media Centre Executive Director Ofwono Opondo, passed away at 2:30 A.M. at Mukono General Hospital, as announced by Opondo on Monday, April 6.

Opondo, who also serves as the government spokesperson, refrained from disclosing the cause of his mother’s demise.

Following the announcement, numerous Ugandans expressed condolences on social media platforms.

Former Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, and former head of the Uganda Media Centre, conveyed his condolences, stating: “Comrade @OfwonoOpondo heartfelt condolences.”

Others, like Nats and Eng. Dr. Kenneth Muniina, extended sympathies, expressing sorrow and offering prayers for the departed soul.

Jude Bwogi acknowledged the grace of having Alice Opondo until that moment and thanked God for her life and contributions to the nation.

Julius Mucunguzi, the head of public relations and spokesperson of the Electoral Commission, offered prayers for strength to Opondo and his family, wishing Alice Opondo eternal peace.

Balaam Barugahara, the state minister for Youth and Children Affairs, and Marcella Karekye, the special presidential assistant on communication, also conveyed their condolences, praying for the departed soul’s eternal rest.
