Bobi Wine Champions Harriet Ageno in Dokolo Woman MP By-Election

Dokolo, Uganda – The National Unity Platform’s (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has fervently urged Dokolo District voters to participate in the upcoming Woman Member of Parliament (MP) by-election.

Set for Thursday, March 21, the election sees NUP’s Harriet Ageno vying for the coveted seat, with Bobi Wine calling for a strong turnout in support of change and vigilant vote protection.

During a vibrant rally at Angwencibangi Primary School in Dokolo Town Council on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, Bobi Wine highlighted the critical need for electoral participation and vigilance.

The rally marks a significant moment in the electoral process for Dokolo, seeking a new Woman MP following the passing of Cecilia Atim Ogwal on January 18, 2024.

Bobi Wine, the charismatic figure who also contended in the 2021 presidential race, spoke passionately about the enduring struggles facing Uganda, emphasizing the disparity between the nation’s wealth and the poverty of its citizens.

He criticized the current government’s handling of the nation’s resources and underscored the importance of electing leaders committed to genuine change.

Ageno’s Commitment to Dokolo

Harriet Ageno, standing under the NUP banner, pledged unwavering support to the Dokolo community, addressing pressing issues such as the lack of basic medical supplies in healthcare facilities. “It’s disheartening to see mothers in need being neglected.

We are committed to ensuring that necessary healthcare supplies, like gloves, are readily available to those who need them most,” Ageno stated, emphasizing her dedication to transformative leadership.

Ageno faces a competitive field, with candidates including Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Janet Rose Adongo Elau representing the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and Sarah Aguti from the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), among others.
