Kampala, Uganda – The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Rubaga Division, Herbert Anderson Burora, has been suspended. This follows a complaint from the Speaker of Parliament’s office regarding his critical social media posts.

Burora’s suspension comes just a day after photos emerged online showing a meeting between Speaker Anita Among and President Museveni. This happened amidst an ongoing social media campaign highlighting alleged corruption and misuse of funds in Parliament.

Presidency sources confirmed Burora’s suspension by Hajji Yunus Kakande, the Secretary in the Office of President. The source claims the suspension is to allow for further investigation by the Presidency, his appointing authority.

The source further alleges that during the Among-Museveni meeting, the Speaker complained about Burora’s social media posts, which she viewed as undermining Parliament and its leadership on platform X (formerly Twitter).

One such post, from Burora’s X account (formerly Nakawa RCC), sarcastically stated, “I told them to forgive us…[because] your Corporate Social Responsibility budget…has not yet reached them.” The post then implies criticism of Parliament’s spending priorities.
